DISPLACEMENT: COMPASSION

COMPASSION

The Earth folds down upon my skin
And the rain embeds itself so much
That breath cannot catch itself
And it exceeds our expectations
And buries our hopes.

But the air blows soft clouds that
Carry a triumphant march
That only love can carry
The air that sells itself to the vicious winds
That wrap our cold skin.

Zoe Macdonald

Zoe’s poems are usually written in a short space of time, and therefore are intended to reflect raw emotion. They are written with an immediacy, and it is important to her that her works are not altered after they are written. Zoe hopes ‘Compassion’ will help raise important issues of compassion and feeling overwhelmed at a time when all seems lost, and, most importantly, that showing empathy and compassion we can overcome many of the dark times.
